Enjoy a fun messy painting session together and turn your painted papers into a flutter of butterflies.
THE THINGS YOU’LL NEED:
- Two sheets of paper
- Child friendly paints
- Paintbrushes
- Palette or paper plate
- Scissors
- Stapler and staples
- Hole punch
- Wool
HOW TO MAKE A BUTTERFLY:
- Paint the palm side of your hands
- Spread out your fingers and press your hand down flat onto one of the sheets of paper to make a handprint. Keep your hand as still as you can so that your print doesn’t look too smudgy
- Repaint your hand when you need to and fill your sheet of paper with colourful handprints. These will be your butterfly wings.
- Use your painted hands to cover the other sheet of paper with painted colour. Smearing the paint all over the paper is lots of fun
- Let your prints and papers dry
- Cut out your hand prints
- From the other painted sheet of paper cut out some shapes for the middle of your butterflies - approx 8cm long
- Hold two hand prints together so that they overlap at the base of the hand and resemble butterfly wings
- Place a butterfly middle shape over the wings and staple everything together in place
- Punch a hole at the top of your butterfly
- Fold a short length of wool in half and loop through the punched hole
- Pin your flutter of brilliant butterflies to the wall or dangle them from the ceiling
