Exercising after giving birth can feel like hard work, especially at a time when you will have baby’s needs at the forefront of your mind.
However, it is a great time to boost your energy levels, is very beneficial to help you return to your pre- baby figure and improve your overall health and well -being.
Some of the main benefits are:
• Regain muscle strength and tone, particularly in the abdominal area
• Improve sleep
• Reduce post natal depression
• Great stress buster
Ideally, you should be aiming for 150 minutes exercise per week of moderate activity.
This should be introduced gradually and can include a variety of different activities such as walking, swimming and exercise classes. In fact, any exercise that makes you feel a little sweaty but still able to hold a conversation.
Our post natal class at Chase Leisure centre is perfectly designed to act as one of your weekly activity sessions and help you either start your journey or get you back to your previous fitness levels.
The class is a mix of aerobic and conditioning exercises, with an emphasis on posture, balance and abdominal training to re awaken those tummy muscles
Baby is a welcome addition and can add to the workout should you wish to. It is also an informal session where baby’s needs always come first if your attention is required. Many of the class socialise before and after so it’s also a great way to make new friends.
Lift access is available for push chairs and car seats too. Please bring a water bottle for yourself and water is available to refill.
You can join us as soon as you have had your 6 -week check, but if you wish to come earlier please check with your midwife or GP first to ensure they are happy for you to start earlier.
We would love you to join us and if you have any questions please contact Chase leisure centre, or leave a message and contact number for anything specific and I will return your call.
